Nina & Dance Addiction

I last photographed Cayden about a year ago when he was still a baby, he's now the gorgeous little boy who is absolutely adored by all his big sisters, you can imagine the mischief he will get up to as he gets older!

Take two! The 2nd Dent Family of the day.

2 Beautiful Babies who were about 5 weeks old and one VERY cheeky Chappy who didn't want to NOT be in front of the camera.

Harrison (one of the Twins) really only wanted to sleep wrapped up warm and snugly, and any attempt to undress him or move him resulted in a stern look and tears, yet Olivia took after her big brother and really did love all the attention.

Lovely family who make a long journey up to have the photos done and hope to see you all again soon.

The Dents

I first photographed Amy and her Family a year ago, they were mad then and nothing has changed!!

I did a three hour stint in the studio with Amys Family and we had such a laugh, espicially with Jack who is dead cute but a real cheeky chap, and Emily is just beautiful to photograph she really is happy in fron of the camera and it shows in her pictures.

I will post some of the images from the rest of the Family shortly, especially 2 very cute babies.

A Beautiful Boy

This ones a special one; I have a little girl who means everything to me and this is the First baby of her last teacher in Infant School.

Ms Hurwood is one of those teachers that really inspired my daughter and encouraged to achieve; for those that now me on a personal level you really will understand why that meant to much to me. So when we found out the Ms Hurwood was having a baby, then of course I wanted to take a few pictures for her.

When I arrived at Tracy & Clint's House and met Isaac for the first time, i really couldn't believe how beautiful he was for 10 days old, and how alert, he wasn't going to miss a trick of what was going on.

Anyway here are just a few of the beautiful little boy Isaac.

It's a small world!

A very good friend of mine who happens to be an amazing landscape photographer ( http://www.colinemill.co.uk/ ) is sat at work when his boss tells him his Daughter Sally is getting married and did he have any recommendations for a photographer, of course he recommended me!

Anyway whilst I am busy working away in the office, the phone rings, it’s Sally asking about Wedding Photography, so after a little while I suggest we meet up and talk further and show her my work, as she gives me her address I look out of my office window at her house, we obviously laugh, it really is a small world! So we get the Job! I say we like a very royal we, in that I mean me and Paula, my second shooter, another talented photographer.

Sally & Leigh are just so lovely, from the moment I met them I knew this was going to be an awesome wedding, the date was set for the 17th September 2011 at the beautiful Orangery at Whittlebury Hall. It really is beautiful, all we needed was the weather to be kind.

Over the coming months leading up to the Wedding I would often see Sally taking the Dog and their beautiful daughter for a walk, and so we now would say hi and have a chat about the wedding preparations, we got excited about the dress the theme, all sorts.

About 5 weeks before the wedding we went out to the Orangery for the pre wedding shoot, it was cold, wet and windy and yes August, could we expect anything less? The pre wedding shoot can be seen here.

The day before the Wedding Sally and I met to go over the last few bits and pieces and to formulate the final plans for the day, Though poor Sally was more concerned about her cake as her Dad had been dispatched southbound down the motorway to collect it, I think the worry was that he is often very clumsy!! But fortunately after a swift text that evening all was well, the cake had arrived safely with just a couple of butterflies having fallen, but easily stuck back on.

I arrived at the brides house early that morning to capture some of the preparations, as I arrived Sally said “make yourself at home, Dad’s in the shower” We both cracked up when I suggested Dad may not want me making myself at home in the shower!! But Dad did eventually come downstairs and I think was feeling overwhelmed by the amount of girls in the house, but with two daughters he should have been used to it!! Thanks for the Cup’s of Tea though Bob, you really do know how to make a decent cuppa.

Sally & Leigh had a really relaxed Wedding day, it really was about everyone enjoying themselves, The venue looked amazing and was filled with the most beautiful wild flowers, which ran through to the bouquets, and even the youngest bridesmaid who had a wild flower wand.

Paula did an amazing job at the Venue, making sure that all the details that Sally & Leigh had put so much thought into got captured, the groom and his bridal party getting ready, and the guests arriving, and all with Bob's Cuppa.

The day turned out amazingly, the Sun shone when we needed it and when we didn't the storm clouds rolled in and gave us spectacular thunder & lightening during the wedding breakfast, followed by magic shows for the children and of course emptying of the sweet jars.

At the end of the Day after another storm passed over head and the dancing was just getting going, the most amazing sky materialised and so Sally & Leigh stood on the soggy golf course to take one last image.

It was an amazing day, a long one, but amazing.

Meet Oliver Gray

This is Oliver Gray, when I met Oliver he was literally 3 days old. The funny thing was that whilst chatting to his Mum Lucy it was a blast from the past, I used to live in the same area as a Kid growing up in the 70's and discussed how my brother and I went to a childminder on the same street as them, when I mentioned her name Lucy laughed, telling me she still lived in the same house and still Childminded some 35 years on!! That's dedication, it does make you realise what a small world we live in sometimes.

Baby Alba

So all of this week I have been stealing Newborns!! Well borrowing them......

You see I love taking pictures of people, big ones, medium ones and small ones; but when it comes to tiny tiny ones I don't have lot's of experience so after a casting call on Facebook a few new babies appeared to be my models for the day.

This little cutie is Alba, and she was cute, funny thing was as her Mum Dawn and I chatted it turned out that her Mum worked with my Husband! Small world.

Anyway Thank You Darren for putting me in touch with Dawn, and Thank You Dawn for bringing Alba over, we will have to do it again in a few months.

WOW what a day!!!

Today has been a whirlwind Bank Holiday Monday, so much for having the day off!!! My Cousin Scott, his wife Helen and their two daughters Lauren and Emily where coming to the area from Norfolk, and so an impromptu family gathering was put together by my Mum and we had an amazing day reminiscing on days gone by, laughing and all drinking copious amounts of alcohol!! Except me of course who had 3 cups of tea!! Light weight I know.

Additionally I met two gorgeous New Born's today, a 3 day old and a 3 week old, their pictures are to follow in the next few days. But whilst my Cousin Scott was in the area, I did a very quick photo shoot with his two girls, and it was loads of fun, they really got in to the grove and pulled out all the poses!

Anyway thanks for a great day and night.

Talk about cute! Oscar is 4 months old and just the cutest little boy, I've known his Mum Kelly for about 6 years. Kelly popped round for a cuppa on Wednesday morning and Oscar was in a good mood so we had an impromptu photo shoot.

Funny how things happen, I met Fiona at a baby group 7 years ago when we both had baby daughters and 7 years later we are still the best of friends.

Fiona is one of those rare people that has a heart of gold, if it's within her power to help she will and if you need her she's there.

1st Birthday, 1st Photoshoot

David was 1 Yesterday and for his birthday Nan bought him his first photo-shoot, now normally when working with a 1 year old the most you have to contend with is them crawling away, but David, well he was fast!!! He really was a pocket dynamo, but oh so cute. Such a happy chap and a pleasure to work with. Happy Birthday David for Yesterday.

Today was an unusual day, I photographed three families today, one that I had never met, the 2nd was my best friend but the third mean the most to me, it was my family.

Like any Family it really is difficult to get everyone in one place at the same time, the main problem is the teenage element!! They don't want to be photographed, least of all by Auntie Tracy!! So by hiring a great studio www.uniquecapturestudio.com and most likely a threat from their Dad that they had to come we at last managed to get some photos of the kids, Lewis at 16 and being the eldest is most likely going to be off doing his own thin within a couple of years and so this was probably our last chance.

The other plan for the day was to get a family group shot, that had EVERYONE in, well me really as I tend to reside behind the lens, feel safer there. But that was scuppered in that my Husband and Son had gone on a boys only camping trip to the new forest so I was thinking that I would have to photo shop them in later on!! But at the last minute a phone call to say they had just arrived home had them high tailing it to the studio for this one image to be created!! Thanks to Chris at Unique I actually got out from behind the camera for this very rare image.

I had a real laugh with the kids, and hopefully they had some fun also.

Sally and Leigh get married in less than 5 weeks and both are really excited about their Wedding Day; of course one of the most important participants is their beautiful baby girl Isabella, who enjoyed the pre wedding shoot just as much as Mum & Dad.

Gemma & Karl's Wedding Day

Considering the previous day poured with rain, we go to the complete extreme on the wedding day. It was very Sunny and very hot, not ideal for the bridal party in their outfits, but it didn't matter, they intended to enjoy every minute; and they did.

Gemma looked amazing, and was so relaxed, no sign of nerves at all, but considering she was marrying her childhood sweetheart, whom she had known for 23 years, you could understand why this bride was not nervous in anyway.

The ceremony was beautiful, both Gemma & Karl had written their own vows to each other which was lovely and with only a slight stumble on words everything went off well.

Abbey Hill Golf Club was our venue and surprisingly I found some really cool place to take Gemma & Karl for photos, neither of them wanted posed family photos of the day so we could spend a bit more time doing the photos they did want, fun, relaxed and lots of the children, 20 in all attended.

As with any wedding it really was a pleasure and a privilege to attend, hope you enjoy Los Vegas guys.

Flowers Anyone

Well it was my Cousin Claire's 40th Birthday Last week and we had a big BBQ at her house, which was awesome; it was so nice to see all the family and the kids of course loved every minute of it. My two Abigail & Ollie really love William & James who belong to Marie, Claire's Sister, Confused yet?

It was about 6pm, the Golden hour, and I decided to take all 4 kids off on a walk to try and burn some energy off!! (it didn't work) but we came across this lovely field of grass with lots of, I want to say wild flowers but Weeds are more in keeping, but the kids loved just going mad in it.

A few more days like this during the School Holidays would be fantastic.

Wedding Photography Workshop

Most people have Artists, bands or People they admire, I happen to admire the work of a few photographers, one of which is Steve Gerrard, I have always found something really uplifting about his work; so when he announced that he was running a Wedding Photography Workshop, I of course jumped at the chance to go along.

So myself and my very best friend Paula jumped on a train at some ungodly hour to travel to Birmingham for a full day’s workshop. We arrived at the Custard Factory, which in itself looks like some sort of TV Set!! It has amazing light, statues and yes it used to be the old Birds Custard Factory and met up with 10 other Photographers.

Steve arrived and was like this Human Dynamo rushing about to get us all settled with Good Coffee and started to tell us about his journey into photography, The nicest thing about Steve is that he is willing to share, nothing was a secret or something that he wanted to keep for himself, he said to us all at one point in the morning that 'compare yourself to you and get better' and don't 'compare yourself to others and get bitter' it really was an eye opening statement, as a Photographer you always worry about is your work good enough and that someone else is so much better than you, but the reality is my Photography is my art, I produce pictures I like, if you like them great, if not so be it, we can’t please everyone, so I will not compare myself anymore and if any of my Tog friends hear me you have permission to kick (just not hard).

Would I recommend this course, dam right I would, it was a really intense yet relaxed day, you could ask questions freely, got fed but the pinnacle was spending a couple of hours out on the streets of Digbeth with an amazing couple Chara & James. I have included just some of my favorite images from the day and I hope you like them.

Off to the Prom

Tonight my baby girl Abigail had her leavers prom, she is 7 by the way!! Abigail and her cousin Charlotte are about to finish infant school and make the leap to Middle School. Understandably they are both a little apprehensive but overall really excited.

Abigail and Charlotte have done Pre school and infant school together so they are really close, but they will both be in different schools come September, and that in itself worries me, Abigail adores Charlotte, so do I and I will really miss seeing her each day.

So today after school both girls had a girly session, Charlottes Mum Helen did showers and nails, I did Hair and photos! I think there was even a touch of body glitter on hand.

Unfortunately the Disco was only for 1 hour, which is such a shame after all the effort, but they enjoyed themselves.

The Very First Blog

So this is my First Blog, exciting????? Questionable! Am very excited as I am off to the Custard Factory in Birmingham Tomorrow on a Wedding Photography course with one of my Favourite Photographers Steve Gerrard www.stevegerrardphotography.com. His work always makes me smile and for me that's what Photography should do. I will of course update you on my experiences tomorrow.
